Matheus Cunha's comments to Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko speak volumes of Man Utd trio

Matheus Cunha revealed that he told Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko that he needed to start being involved in the goals, before finding the back of the net for the first time since his big-money move to Manchester United. Cunha opened his account for the Red Devils by breaking the deadlock at Old Trafford, curling an effort into the bottom corner.

The former Wolves man cost £62.5million and he received adulation for his performance against Liverpool, but Cunha was still desperate to add goals to his game. He got his wish and three more followed for his team-mates, with Mbeumo grabbing a brace and Casemiro's deflected strike beating Bart Verbruggen.

For Cunha, he has cemented his spot on the left flank and was even lost at words when he reflected on the goal.

"It is hard to say something now," Cunha told BBC Match of the Day. "I have worked so hard for this. This is the club and this performance needs to be common and normal. I feel so good to be part of this. My first goal here at Old Trafford, I dreamed a lot of this but of course the win is much more important."

Cunha revealed that he spoke to Mbeumo and Sesko before the match, with the pair already amongst the goals this season, admitting that he felt he needed to join them.

He added: "It is so hard to say something. I joked with Bryan and Sesko, I told them I need to have this feeling [scoring]. I felt so anxious to be a part of this and when I scored they said 'look you can enjoy it now.' All the day the support for my team-mates, I feel so good to be part of this."

"I am one of them [fans]. This is the club I grew up watching and to be here is a mix of sensations. To help them, it is my dream come true.

"We need to be a bit more calm next time. We know the quality of Brighton, they always have hard games and of course they have the capacity to come back but I think in the end - it is part of the game and the most important thing is in the end that we win.

"I think we are there now. We need to feel this is common. This is a club that needs to be in these kind of positions and I hope we can continue like this to finish the season where we want."

Gary Neville singled out both Cunha and Mbeumo for praise as they continue to build a formidable partnership at the top of the pitch.

"With Cunha and Mbeumo, the risk of those signings was removed because in the sense they had played in the Premier League before and they had the hunger to deliver at a different level," he said on Sky Sports.

"Mbeumo looks like he belongs. He looks hungry and that he wants to score goals. Manchester United have something to build on. Cunha and Mbeumo will win a lot of matches for Manchester United."
