The M56 motorway approaching Manchester was hit by long traffic queues after a crash involving two cars today. Two lanes on the major motorway were closed on the eastbound carriageway near junction six, at the Hale Four Seasons roundabout.
The Inrix traffic monitoring service said in an update earlier on Saturday: "Queueing traffic and two lanes closed due to accident, two cars involved on M56 Eastbound before J6 A538 Hale Road (Hale Four Seasons Roundabout). Congestion to J7 (Bowdon). Lanes one and two (of four) remain closed after traffic was held in all the four lanes to allow the Traffic Officers assist."
National Highways confirmed at about 1.30pm that the route was clear.
