Good Morning Britain in hilarious live blunder as Secretary of Tech's outfit causes issue

Send Push

Good Morning Britain viewers witnessed an awkward technical blunder with Technology Secretary Liz Kendall on the show this morning.

Liz joined Richard Madeleyand Susanna Reid via video link this morning, but as she accidentally wore a green top, the duo announced they had to make a huge "low tech" change to the background.

Normally, they would use a digital green screen with a picture of the Houses of Parliament, which wouldn't have worked due to Liz's green shirt.

"That image would have been projected on to you!" Susanna exclaimed, as Liz couldn't hold in her laughter.

Continuing, Susanna said: "We've had to replace the digital screen with a piece of material in which someone has printed a photograph of the Houses of Parliament.

"Can I just say, a slightly embarrassing moment for our first interview with you as Technology Secretary," as Richard burst into a laughter.

"Did no one tell you about the perils of the green screen?" Susanna jokingly questioned.

Explaining the behind the scenes chaos, Liz explained: "He said to me, 'Sometimes you have green screens, sometimes you have blue.'

"But I've done both, and I will never do it again. I've also got green shoes on but I will never do it again!"

Joking about the unflattering fabric, Susanna said: "There are a few wrinkles in the fabric behind, that people may notice.

"Also, quite a few wrinkles in this visit of the American President," as they went on to speak about Donald Trump's visit to the UK.

At the end of the interview, Richard jokingly told Liz to make sure she doesn't wear any green next time, as Liz confirmed she'd definitely be wearing blue.

Liz Kendall was moved to the role of Technology Secretary in this month's reshuffle. She had previously served as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions from 2024 to 2025.

She's the Labour MP for Leicester West, and has been an MP continually since 6 May 2010.
