EastEnders bosses have decided to forget that one character ever existed amid Zoe Slater's major comeback. Fans of the BBC soap opera will know that Zoe (Michelle Ryan) made a bombshell return earlier this week, more than 20 years after the iconic scene aired in which she discovered that her biological mother was Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace), and not her sister as she'd been brought up to believe.
But just days after the comeback aired, new EastEnders executive producer Ben Wadey, who took over from Chris Clenshaw earlier this year, addressed the fate of Dermott Dolan, who was revealed to be Zoe's twin brother in 2016. Nearly a decade ago, Kat discovered that she had actually given birth to two twins, and late Absolutely Fabulous legend June Whitfield played the nun who had told her.
The bombshell storyline led to the conception of a spin-off, Redwater. It followed Kat as she came face-to-face with her adult son, played by Oisín Stack. It was revealed that he was now a priest and a murderer. This has rarely been mentioned in the regular version of EastEnders.

It was not mentioned at all when Zoe made her comeback to the serial last week, and now Ben has insisted that he wants the whole Redwater concept to be viewed as a 'parallel universe' to what takes place in the initial show.
He told The Sun: "It's an interesting question. Look, it was a brilliant show, Redwater, but obviously, a fair few years ago now and adds a different element in a, I'd say for now parallel universe to Walford."
In 2015, viewers were as surprised as Kat to learn that she had given birth to twins when she was a teenager. A few months later, she visited the nunnery where she had given birth, and Sister Ruth told her that not only had Zoe been born all those years ago, but so had a baby boy.
After finding out the truth, a furious Kat argued with Mo Harris, who knew about the boy, and dad Charlie, who didn't. Amid the arguing, Charlie Slater had a heart attack and died.
Redwater ended on a cliffhanger, with viewers unsure if Kat had drowned after heading out to sea with her son. But when the character returned to the main show in 2018, there was no mention of her killer son or what happened in Ireland. While it's been a hot topic among fans, EastEnders has swept the storyline under the rug.
Now that his twin sister has returned, many had wondered if the the Dermott, who was born as Luke, storyline will finally resurface, especially since it played a part in the death of Charlie Slater.
Zoe's permanent return began when her half-brother, Tommy, tracked her down and brought her back to Walford for the first time in 20 years. Fans were then treated to some jaw-dropping dramatic scenes between Zoe and Kat, ultimately resulting into a major row outside the Vic, just as events with Jack Branning and Ravi Gulati led to a shocking shooting nearby.
