The worlds of Telugu cinema and Korean action might just collide most unexpectedly — and fans can’t keep calm. 'Baahubali' star Prabhas, who’s been ruling headlines with his high-octane lineup, is set to team up with 'Animal' director Sandeep Reddy Vanga for their much-hyped action drama Spirit. Now, the buzz is that Korean superstar Don Lee, better known as Ma Dong-seok of Train to Busan and Eternals fame, could be joining the cast — as the film’s antagonist.
According to reports circulating on a popular Korean entertainment community page, Muko, Don Lee’s participation in Spirit has been confirmed. The update, later translated and shared across social media, revealed that the Korean actor will reportedly play a character who stands in opposition to Prabhas’ role in what’s being described as a dark-toned detective crime drama. The post also noted that Lee’s journey to India for the film had already begun, after he was spotted boarding a flight to the country on Instagram.
The viral tweet detailing the announcement called Ma Dong-seok “the ten-million-viewer actor of the Crime City series” and highlighted that Spirit would be directed by one of India’s most talked-about filmmakers, Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The translation added that Vanga, known for Animal and Arjun Reddy, has built a reputation for pushing boundaries with his long runtimes, raw violence, and divisive portrayal of relationships.
While Don Lee’s involvement has reportedly been locked in, details about his character and the scale of his role are still under wraps. The Korean post also mentioned that it’s not yet confirmed whether Spirit will release theatrically in South Korea.
Who is Don Lee?
Don Lee, also known as Ma Dong-seok, is one of South Korea’s most popular action stars. He shot to fame with Train to Busan and became a box-office powerhouse with The Outlaws and its hit The Roundup series. Known for his rugged charm and powerful screen presence, Ma has starred in blockbusters like Along with the Gods, The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil, and Ashfall. In 2021, he made his Hollywood debut with Marvel’s Eternals, cementing his global stardom.
About Spirit
For the uninitiated, Spirit is positioned as an action-packed cop drama headlined by Prabhas, who will share screen space with Triptii Dimri, Prakash Raj, and Vivek Oberoi. Backed by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, the film is slated for a grand theatrical release in 2026 — and with this new Korean connection, it just might become one of the most global crossover films ever to emerge from Indian cinema.
