Realme's 15,000 mAh battery phone: Check release date and features

Realme has confirmed plans to launch a smartphone featuring a 15,000mAh battery on August 27, positioning battery life as the device’s key feature. This capacity is more than double that of most current smartphones and could represent one of the most significant departures from conventional design in recent years.

According to teaser posters shared by Realme, the phone does not appear excessively thick or heavy, despite its large battery. The device prominently displays "15000mAh" across its rear panel, underscoring its main selling point.

Availability unclear

The company has not clarified whether this phone will be commercially available or if it is being developed as a concept model. Given the scale of the innovation, there is a possibility that it may initially serve as a showcase product for Realme’s advancements in battery technology, rather than being released immediately to consumers.

Realme's new phone could support 50 hrs of video playback

Realme claims the phone’s 15,000mAh battery can deliver up to 50 hours of uninterrupted video playback, which could amount to more than five days of regular usage on a single charge. The device is also said to support up to 18.75 hours of video shooting on a single charge, a figure rarely seen in the smartphone market. Such performance stands out even when compared to rugged phones with 10,000mAh batteries, which tend to be bulkier. Realme indicates that its upcoming model will resemble a standard flagship in appearance.

10,000mAh concept phone

This is not Realme’s first exploration into high-capacity batteries. Earlier in the year, the company introduced a 10,000mAh concept phone using a silicon-anode battery with a 10 percent silicon ratio—reportedly the highest in the industry. This allowed the battery to achieve an energy density of 887Wh/L while maintaining a slim form factor.

That concept also showcased Realme’s 320W fast charging solution. At the time, the company stated that the technology could charge a phone from 0 to 100 percent in four and a half minutes, with just one minute of charging adding 26 percent battery. A 50 percent charge was claimed to take only about two minutes. If similar technology is implemented in the upcoming model, it could significantly change user expectations around charging speed and battery life.

Current capacity of the phones available

Currently, the largest battery offered in a commercial Realme device is 7,000mAh, found in the Realme GT 7 available in India. With the introduction of this new phone, Realme appears set to more than double that figure, highlighting the pace at which smartphone battery innovation is advancing.
