India collapsed in the second T20I vs Australia in Melbourne. Suryakumar Yadav’s men could not even bat 20 overs as their innings ended on 125 with eight balls to spare. But one man stood tall through this carnage. In fact, but for his innings, India would probably have made it to three figures. He was there from the start and stayed virtually till the end. Yes, we are speaking of Abhishek Sharma.
Abhishek Sharma’s Lone HandOther than Abhishek, only Harshit Rana with a 33-ball 35 gave any resistance. Their partnership of 56 for the sixth wicket rescued India from 49/5. But in the end, the final score would not have been possible without Abhishek’s fireworks.

Even as India’s top and middle order struggled, Abhishek helped himself to a 23-ball 50. While other batters struggled on the pitch against the swinging and seaming ball, Abhishek seemed to be playing on a different wicket. He used the crease well and that confused the lengths of the Aussie bowlers. He was India’s lone ranger and his solo demolition act was a reminder why he’s the best T20I batter in the world today. For those who thought his Asia Cup 2025 show was a flash in the pan, this knock will certainly put them in their place.
Abhishek Sharma Taking the Fight to AustraliaAbhishek slammed 68 from 37 balls. He hit eight fours and two sixes. While Josh Hazlewood (3/13) knocked the stuffings out of the top order, Abhishek went after the other bowlers and met with grand success. The likes of Shubman Gill, Sanju Samson and Suryakumar all failed but Abhishek stood tall. He was the ninth wicket to fall and the 10th fell without adding any more runs to the score.

The best part about Abhishek’s knock was that he was not slogging. His strokes were proper cricketing shots as runs flowed from his bat. The Australians had no clue where to bowl to him as he made a mockery of any field that was set. Unfortunately, it was support that was lacking as India failed to make use of the power play and could not score freely in the death overs.
T20 World Cup Set for Abhishek Sharma’s FireworksThe 25-year-old southpaw unleashed carnage from his willow as the Aussies ran for cover. It was a stark contrast to the way the game was going on for the Men in Blue. It would be hard to picture his fireworks next to India’s Halloween horror show. However, it was a sign of things to come as Abhishek goes from strength to strength. If his current form is anything to go by, expect him to set the stage on fire when the T20 World Cup gets underway in a little over three months.
