Chelsea confirm £29m transfer as fresh Nicolas Jackson exit pathway emerges

Send Push

The summer transfer window has been a busy one for Chelsea and their Premier League rivals so far and it shows no signs of slowing down as the new domestic season approaches.

Enzo Maresca and his backroom staff have been working hard to build a squad to compete both at the top of the Premier League table and in the Champions League. It has seen both comings and goings.

The Blues have seen eight new arrivals since the end of last season, such as Joao Pedro, Jamie Gittens, Jorrel Hato and Liam Delap.

All four could potentially make their competitive debuts for the club when Chelsea face Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, August 17.

There could still be more transfers both in and out before that match kicks off. So, we've taken a look at a couple of the latest stories and given our own thoughts;

£29m transfer arrives

Chelsea have officially announced the arrival of Estevao - who has joined the club from Brazilian team Palmeiras - following a deal worth an initial £29m.

It's been over a year since it was revealed that the youngster would join the club. But they have, now, confirmed that he has joined his new teammates at Cobham.

Responding to that move, he told the club's official website, he said: "I had almost a year and a half to wait until I arrived here. But it has been a year and a half that I have worked hard - and have done my best to get here in the best shape possible.

"I am very, very excited. It is a new experience in my life, a new stage. I am looking forward to it and hope that it will go as well as possible."

football.london says: The arrival of Estevao to Chelsea has been a long time coming - for both the club and the player. The news should cause excitement around Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea got a first-hand glimpse of what he can do during the club World Cup quarter-final where he was on the scoresheet for Palmeiras. The Blues will now be hoping he can do the same in Chelsea colours.

Nicolas Jackson talks

Newcastle are among the clubs showing a interest in Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, according to reports.

Ben Jacobs claims that the forward is on the list of attacking options for the Magpies this summer alongside their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko. It's added by him that there has already been club-to-club talks over a possible transfer.

Chelsea are reported to be open to a sale before the deadline.

football.london says: The summer signings of both Joao Pedro and Liam Delap does mean there is now more competition for the striker role in the Chelsea squad for the upcoming season, with Enzo Maresca's system only requiring one at a time to play.

Jackson could, therefore, find regular starts hard to come by in the new season. If Chelsea can make a big profit of the £32million they spent on him, I think it's a deal that they should consider.

Should Newcastle fail in their chase for Sesko - and then lose Alexander Isak this summer - then he will be a first choice at St James' Park, and with Chelsea knowing that the Magpies have got money in the bank, there could be an opportunity to get a big fee.
